introduction

what i've always found interesting when talking to artists in residence is the opportunity it gives to gain a glimpse of the artists day to day working methods.

i've used a lot of different media in the past (painting, photography, video), what i do is mostly 2d and comes from a fairly traditional fine art background. The digital works come directly out of my previous art concerns and at first i thought about them as as much a way of making drawings for paintings as stand-alone things. However i soon saw that they offered an interesting way of making easily distributable artworks which also allowed for a degree of user interaction.

over the past couple of months i've been learning flashMX and taking the opportunity to update earlier works to be easier for me to work with and more responsive when a button is pressed. my flash things mostly work via actionscript and flashMX makes it much easier to centralise the code and be a bit more organised. so what i'm going to do during this time is update a couple of the elements i use and see what i do with them.

if you want to follow this your going to need the flashMX player, link below.
